New Nurse Aide Training Class

Lampasas, TX – The Lampasas County Higher Education Center (LCHEC) is offering a new Nurse Aide training class starting in June. Class will meet Monday through Thursday, 5:15pm – 9:30pm, from June 19th through July 27th, 2017. Registration is open now and runs up to one week prior to the start of class. Course cost is $1045 and includes tuition, textbook, and workbook. Payment plans are available. Students must purchase their own scrubs and will need to pay for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services certification exam (approximately $85).


Certified Nurse Aides work closely with patients and residents, assisting with bathing, grooming, and feeding. Working closely with patients, CNAs are responsible for basic care services such as checking patient vital signs, ambulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs).


The Certified Nurse Aide position is one of the fastest growing jobs in Texas, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and jobs are plentiful throughout the Central Texas area. According to the Bureau, the median annual salary for a CNA in Texas is $24,510 and for a CNA in Killeen, the medial annual salary is $25,062. Jobs may be found in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, doctors’ offices, home health agencies, and independent living facilities.


Malinda Galley, LVN  is the instructor for this course. She is a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, and a Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, and Crystal Webb, RN is the Nurse Aide Training Program Director for LCHEC.
